I started painting when I was seven years of age. My eccentric, artistic, trapeze artist Aunt Francis, gave me an art satchel filled with her paints, brushes  & canvases. It was magical to me & it unlocked my imagination. I painted in junior high school & later studied Commercial Art. I took a hiatus during my twenties & early thirties, while raising my son.  After moving with my husband Sol to 30A, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, I reignited my passions for art & writing. My soul was reborn & I could feel my spirit growing from infancy to maturity. I love my life @ the beach & being a beach wife, with my son o' the beach hubby Sol, our 4 Chihuahuas (Mojo, Roxy, Bella, Mitzi), our Sharpei (Hayley) & our calico cat(Punkin'), who has an identity crisis. Life is good & I know I am truly blessed. This is how I became a beach wife, although Sol says, that I've been a beach wife since we married.

I am inspired by all of God's creations in nature. I'm in awe of the wonders he has created on this earth. I'm inspired by the people I meet in everyday life. I especially enjoy artistic, creative, positive people who take risks with their creative genius. I am a believer in giving away smiles, they do not cost a thing, but they are priceless to the recipient.

Humor is an important part of life & it is vital to your growth as an individual, that you have the ability to laugh at yourself.  Self deprecation through humor, enables you to not take yourself so seriously & that's when the everyday stresses roll away. Encompass yourself with people who encourage, respect & accept you through the triumphs & the fiascoes.

Anyone who knows me knows, that I have a gift for gab & I tend to ramble on & on & on.....anyway, here is my artwork. I hope it evokes emotions in you & mostly I hope it makes you smile. If it does move you, then I've accomplished my goal. Art in it's purist form is not about competition, but expression of one's soul. Seven people can paint the same vase of sunflowers & each one will be unique to that individual's vision. As it should be.

The tribute to the lost lives from 911, that I titled "Tears from Heaven", is a result of fragmented dreams I had for weeks after 911. I sat down one evening & sketched out the puzzle pieces of visions from my dreams. The result was this painting "Tears from Heaven". Some people have been angered by this piece, which caused me to weep, because this was not at all what my intention was or is for this piece of art. Therefore, I feel the need to explain the piece, although it should not need explanation.

I saw God's all seeing eye(figuratively) shedding a tear, for humanity, as the heavens are ripped apart. The tear shed has a heart which represents souls, all of the souls lost to an act of cowardly terrorism. The hearts with wings are souls going to heaven, as the heavens shed tears for all the victims, their loved ones, families, friends & mankind as a whole.  The Statue of Liberty, is a symbol of liberty, justice & freedom. The bridge is building new relationships & rebuilding lives, after the destruction seen in the towers. The rainbow is a promise for hope & peace. "Tears from Heaven" is my tribute, such as it is, to all those who lost their lives that tragic day & to their families, to the freedoms that we enjoy by living in this great nation The United States of America, where I have the freedom as a woman & individual to express my anger, grief & hope through this piece of art.  I am proud to be a an American & a beach wife. I pray God is with you all.  Thank you for taking time to read this rambling.

God Bless,
Lisa D. Morgan (L. D. Morgan) alias the Original Beach Wife
